Racism is the biased idea that people are inherently superior or inferior to others based on how they look. In order to prevent or remove this negative attitude from our hearts, we must educate ourselves, reflect upon our implicit biases, and actively stand up against injustices wherever we see them. After all, we, as parents, are responsible for role modeling what it means to “enjoin in what is right and forbid what is wrong” (Qur’an 3:104).
